Welcome to the S.C.R.A.P. Guild's Blog!

The S.C.R.A.P. Guild of Northern IL is now blogging! We'd like to welcome you to our blog and tell you a little bit about ourselves. After our introduction, check out how we made some roses using a Gypsy and some cardstock below!
The S.C.R.A.P. Guild of Northern IL is a non-profit artist group of paper crafters. We have members who scrap book and make cards. We meet on the 3rd Thursday of every month (except July & December) at the Sycamore Public Library from 6:00-8:45pm. All our meeting are open crop, and sometimes we plan an activity for half an hour. For example, we try to have a make and take once a quarter. We have speakers, demos, a community projects at meetings too!
Some of our other activities: a yearly fundraiser crop with shopping, one to two no frills all day crops, field trips, and a little charity work.
If you would like more information on the S.C.R.A.P. Guild of Northern IL, our email address is scrapguild@yahoo.com.
Today we are sharing how to make a rose with your Cricut and the Gypsy. We got this idea after visiting Archivers and seeing the McGill video on making roses. McGill has a whole line of punches for making flowers. The Archivers we visited was cleaned out of the Pear punch needed to make the rose, so I searched my Gypsy and found it is on the Gypsy Font Cartridge! Archivers also carries the styluses and the tweezers in a kit, the black mat for rolling your petals and the non stick mat.
Be sure to check out the McGill Video for more info HERE. Here are my added tips:
1) Ink your edges before you start rolling your petals on BOTH Sides.
2) If you don't have a liquid glue that dries fast you can use glue dots
3) If you don't have a snowflake punch, you can also use a six petal flower with pointy leaves for the base.
4) The Pair shape is on the Gypsy Font, so you will need a Gypsy to cut this with your Cricut. I used a pointed flower from Walk in My Garden for my base instead of the snowflake punch.
5) Practice this before you use your project paper!
You can also get these punches at the Archivers online store if your Archivers is out of the punches!
Be sure to check out the flyer; HERE, for our one to two day Crop this March 12-13th, in DeKalb IL! We will have vendors, door prizes and lots of fun and space to crop!
